With significant cross-border travel expected during the 2026 World Cup, border agencies are working to better allocate resources based on known travel volumes. Over the past year, the association’s collaboration with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has focused on identifying practical solutions to support more efficient land border crossings, particularly through the use of advance passenger information.

As we prepare for increased demand during the World Cup period, your participation is essential.

Providing advance information allows both CBSA and CBP to anticipate demand and reduce delays at land border crossings.

WHAT ALL OPERATORS SHOULD DO

  • Provide advance notice of all planned border crossings as early as possible
  • Submit updated passenger information as soon as it becomes available (or at least 48 hours in advance)
  • Continue updating manifests to reflect accurate passenger counts and details
  • Early and accurate information sharing will directly support more efficient border processing.

IF YOU ARE CROSSING INTO CANADA

On behalf of the Canada Border Services Agency Pacific and Southern Ontario Regions, bus and tour operators are being introduced to the:
Advanced Bus Manifest – FWC26 Support Measure
Effective: May 19 to July 8, 2026

This initiative is designed to help streamline and expedite bus processing during peak World Cup travel periods.

  • Please review the attached flyer here for full participation details
  • Ensure your team understands submission requirements and timelines
  • Participation will support faster processing upon arrival at Canadian land borders

IF YOU ARE CROSSING INTO THE UNITED STATES

Use the CBP Link system for bus operators.

Please note that regulatory updates are anticipated next year, so early adoption of this process will be especially valuable.

WORKING TOGETHER

This is a critical moment for our industry. By working collaboratively and sharing timely information, we can help ensure smoother, more predictable border crossings for passengers and operators alike.

OMCA and MCC remain committed to working alongside CBSA, CBP, and industry partners, including the American Bus Association and United Motorcoach Association, to advocate for continued improvements and long-term solutions.

If you have any questions or require support, please do not hesitate to reach out to info@motorcoachcanada.com or info@omca.com.
